Records Management Intern

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Records Management Intern is primarily responsible for working on a variety of projects that include inventorying records, records scheduling, conducting interviews, gathering business process information, documenting the location of Department essential records, and ensuring appropriate data security for all CapMetro’s records according to records and information management best practices under the direction of the Records Management Officer.
 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Provide customer service by assisting Records Management Officer (RMO) in organizing department records in SharePoint.
  • Assist Department Records Coordinator (DRC) and RMO with department records audits, records inventory, metadata identification, and naming convention formulation and implementation.
  • Assist Department Records Coordinator (DRC) and RMO with defensible records disposition.
  • Assist RMO with development and maintenance of Dispositioned Records tracker.
  • Assist with Records Management program special projects.
  • Provide customer service to customers by locating records in SharePoint.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks for RMO.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
  • Acquire knowledge of the enterprise records management software.
  • Learn to read and interpret policy and legal documentation, Texas State Library and Archives Commission Retention Schedules and Bulletins, apply prescribed records security, retention, and disposition.
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are reported. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Full-time student currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies in Records Management, Master of Science in Information Studies (MSIS), Master of Science in Information Security and Privacy, undergraduate or graduate studies in Public History, or related major degree program.
  • One-year of customer service experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of records or information management (preferred)
