Her career spans roles as Chief of Schools\, Chief Academic & Innovation Officer\, Associate Superintendent\, and principal at both the elementary and secondary levels. She is recognized for her expertise in instructional leadership\, principal supervision\, systems design\, and districtwide school improvement. Dr. Olivarez's personal story is central to her professional purpose. She is a first-generation Mexican immigrant and the youngest of six children. Her parents immigrated to the United States seeking the promise of the American Dream and the transformative power of public education. Her family lived in extreme poverty\, working as migrant laborers\, primarily in West Texas following the cotton crop. Despite significant hardship\, her parents instilled in their children a profound belief in education as the pathway to opportunity. Their sacrifices paid off: all six children became college graduates with advanced degrees\, fulfilling the vision their parents held when they crossed the border. These experiences shaped Dr. Olivarez's mission: to give back to the public school system that lifted her family out of poverty. Her leadership centers on equity\, access\, and the belief that exceptional schools change lives. Dr. Olivarez has been widely recognized for her leadership\, including receiving the national Milken Educator Award\, serving as President of Central Texas TALAS\, and earning appointments to statewide education councils and committees. Her work advancing post-secondary readiness\, teacher incentive systems\, school improvement\, instructional vision\, and leadership development has made her a respected voice across Texas. At the heart of her career is a commitment to serving students\, supporting educators\, developing leaders\, and strengthening the public education system that changed her life\, and continues to shape the lives of the children she serves.
